February is the shortest month of the year, so you might be thinking there isn’t much to go over – but that’s not true of this round up.

Here’s a look at the latest updates and improvements Shopify has rolled out, all designed to make life easier for merchants and enhance the shopping experience for customers.

Let’s dive in:

Smarter Product Categorisation

Shopify has introduced AI-powered enhancements to its product categorisation system, making it easier for store owners to organise their products and improve search visibility. These updates help ensure customers find what they’re looking for more efficiently, leading to better engagement and higher conversions.

Shopify Duties & Import Taxes – Now Available on All Plans

Shopify’s Duties & Import Taxes feature allows merchants to display and collect duties and taxes at checkout, giving customers full transparency on the total cost of their purchase, including any import charges. This makes cross-border selling smoother and helps avoid unexpected fees for shoppers.

Shopify Geolocation App to Be Retired

Very important: The Shopify Geolocation app will be discontinued on 24th March 2025 and replaced with an automatic redirection feature.

If you’re currently using the app and need a popup geo-redirect solution, we highly recommend Orbe. Their founder, Roberto, offers excellent support, and they have a fantastic plan available. Check it out here.

Update Your ‘Thank You’ Page in Checkout

Shopify has been reminding merchants to update their Checkout ‘Thank You’ page to the new version by August 2026. While this deadline seems far off, we recommend making the switch sooner so you can take advantage of post-purchase upsell apps.

The updated pages allow for code-free, upgrade-safe customisation using app blocks, while also supporting secure tracking through app and custom pixels.
