Shopify is kicking off 2025 in the best way: with an updated Shopify Analytics, which apparently is going to work “smarter, faster, and more intuitively for you”.

The ecommerce giant told shop owners:

“It’s the same data you’ve had access to in Shopify – now available in real time, and with rich visualizations that remove the time and effort required to use your data to inform business decisions. And with new ways to view, explore, and curate your data, you’ll be able to discover critical insights faster than ever before.”

You can see a full video of these updates here, in their Summer 24 Editions.

So, when this update comes to your store, what should you be excited about – and watching out for? Have a look at these highlights:

Reporting is more customisable and current

First off, the platform has redesigned its analytics so shop owners can customise reports with the metrics they care about most – whether that’s sales, sessions, conversion rates, or average order value.

You can tweak reports by adding or removing data points, too, changing how the information’s displayed, and setting date ranges – all updated in real time, with the option to save your customised reports to revisit whenever you need.

They’ve improved the dashboard

With this update comes welcome changes to your analytics dashboard, too. It’s now fully customisable, so you’re in control of what you see and how you see it. Pick your metrics, arrange them in your preferred order, and adjust their size and visibility.

With this level of flexibility, you should be able to find your data faster and easier, letting you focus on making better business decisions instead.

Some things may look unfamiliar

Shopify is also altering the way events are processed. While this may result in some metrics appearing differently, they’ve emphasised that these adjustments are intentional:

“These potential differences in your data are part of an effort to ensure your analytics and reporting stay meaningful and reliable as our platform evolves.”

In short, Shopify’s updates to its analytics are planned to make it easier for merchants to access and understand key data. With a customisable dashboard and smarter processing, these changes should help businesses make quicker, more informed decisions.
