The Walk in Wardrobe

The Challenge
Walk in Wardrobe is a clothing retailer based in Banbridge. We met with founder Laura Kearney and her team in 2018 with the intention of expanding her superb business and beautiful store into the world of digital. A fully functional ecommerce store would take the business to a new level, but before it could be up and running, it would need detailed cataloguing, expansive photography and careful customer experience planning.

Strategy
The Walk in Wardrobe website needed to be an extension of what was an already successful storefront. What made it great in person would need to be translated to an online space: easy to navigate, aesthetically pleasing, with a simple, direct path to the checkout. With this in mind, we intended to build a simple, easy to use website with a key emphasis on imagery. The imagery would be a collection of clear product shots and clean lifestyle images to both inform and inspire the customer, and we would keep the customer experience as uncomplicated as possible. This included a clear navigation bar, product filters and a familiar route to both the shopping cart and checkout page.

What We Did
Since 2018, we have been involved in all areas of the website build, from photography, style and layout, right down to the finer details of fonts, brands and a clean user experience.
In particular, we have helped to integrate Klaviyo, Loyalty Lion and also Xero for accounting, as well as building out custom functionality including a system called “Pairs well with”. We also worked on how a customer navigates the site, using custom sections which mean that customers no longer need to sift through hundreds of “jeans” listings, but go straight to “skinny jeans”, “flared jeans” or the various other sections included. We also added videos to the product pages to better inform customers about how garments move and appear from different angles.
Throughout the process there was a clear focus on a mobile first approach, too, with over 75% of the customers to the website visiting from mobile devices.
What’s more is that we built this website with simplicity and accessibility in mind not just for the customer, but for the team at Walk in Wardrobe as well. The internal team, with help from the marketing team, is able to manage the daily goings on of the online store, putting control of the operation into the very capable hands of its founder, Laura, and her talented team.
Results
Orders generated
Since 2014, Walk in Wardrobe has seen over 63,000 online orders, of which 73.88% have come from the online store. This huge proportion is aided by the fact that over half of the sales traffic comes from direct, as opposed to coming from social media or search. 30.87% of these are from returning customers with this number growing year over year.
